Main Types of Employee Leave in Uzbekistan

Type of Leave Description
Paid Annual Leave Minimum 15 working days per year. Can increase with seniority or job type.
Sick Leave Granted with a medical certificate. Paid by employer or state fund depending on duration and cause.
Maternity Leave Pre- and postnatal leave totaling 140 calendar days (70+70). May be extended in case of complications. Paid by the state social insurance system.
Paternity Leave Not standard, but unpaid leave for fathers may be granted in certain cases.
Parental Leave (Childcare) Up to the child’s 3rd birthday. Unpaid, but mother’s job is retained.
Unpaid Leave (Personal Leave) Granted by mutual agreement, e.g. for family emergencies, studies, etc. Duration varies.
Study Leave For employees pursuing higher education, especially for exams. Usually paid, with confirmation from the institution.
Bereavement Leave Short-term leave granted for the death of a close relative. Duration depends on employer's policy.
Leave for Marriage Typically up to 3 calendar days, not always paid (depends on company policy).
Leave Due to Disability or Care Needs For taking care of a family member with a disability or illness; often unpaid or based on medical justification.
